Korean homesickness!

Well it's coming down to the final 2 weeks that I will be in korea, and it has been the most amazing experience ever in my whole entire life. These days it's like I'm cherishing and trying to fit in so much to do everyday I have left! Ughh this sucks! I'm going to miss my host family sooooo much!! They are literally like the most amazing people in the world. Im going to miss my 오빠 (my supporter) and all of the other wonderful supporters and my korean highschool friend. I'm especially going to miss all of the amazing NSLI-Y friends the most! Things are just starting to feel normal here and I'm finally settling in and having the most fun. I wish I could have korean class everyday with the 2 teachers who teach us everyday. Why can't all my teachers be like them xD hahaha. I really love my "korean" life ^.^ I haven't even watched TV in almost four weeks and I feel totally fine hahaha I don't think I'll ever watch American TV again unless it's Spongebob or Degrassi :D haven't updated much but it's only because I've been so busy (나는 너무 바빠요 그런대 재미있어요~)

Old ajummas lol

There are these old ajummas talking about me on the train. Haha I don't think its good talk but its funny lol. They kept like trying to look at my shoes and make it seem as if they were looking out the station. I understand a little of what they are saying but it seems like the "shock" is over now haha. My first 2 minutes of fame :D I'm glad I went in with no expectations because usually things like that would bother me but I kinda like it now lol all eyes on me! *runway pose*

In Korea!

Okay so I've kind of abandoned this blog a little haha. Out of country orientation is all done at Columbia Unviersity and nowwww.... I'm in Seoul, South Korea! Right now I'm taking the Seoul metro subway and theres this old Korean guy talking really loud. The train is literally silent except for him. The silence is kind of nice though. So the funny thing is we my host sister took me to the subway today and I tried to pay as much attention as much as possible, but somehow I still managed to forget everything. But, I'm going the right way with the help of this app called subway (if you are a nsli-y finalist ever reading this you will NEED this app so serious). I'll write about my host family later but I am having so much fun. I've wanted to go home a couple of times, but I definitely want to stay a little longer for now :D

Today's The Day! Orentation !

AHH! So today is our first day of orientation. I don't have to be there until 4pm but I'll get there a little earlier :) I'm super nervous and excited now. It's just hitting me that I'll be going to korea! (I'm late with everything lol that procrastination life yo haha). Speaking of procrastination, I still am not FULLY packed. I still have to buy robe (of all things) and my mom is bringing some stuff she bought.

All of the nsli-yians outside of NYC are all starting to get on their planes to NY. I think that's what made me finally realize this was all happening. Ughh I'm really nervous right now I can't even think straight. The panic of flying is starting to kick in too. Anyone who reads this can probably tell I'm all over the place right now lol there's just so many thoughts going through my head.

Oh and I would be the one to get sick the day before orientation :') I talked to my host sister a couple of days ago, and she was so sweet ^^ but I'm really confused about the host siblings in my family because according the program I have an older sister and two younger brothers but according to my host sister, it's her, her older sister, a younger sister, and a younger brother. I'm guessing my host sister would obviously know her own family, so I think that the program may have messed up but I'll just have to see when I get there! So for host family gifts I kind of just picked a whole bunch of things and figured that I would lay it all out and they would choose what they wanted ... NYC merchandise is expensive! I feel sorry for tourists in NY lol.

I still have to get up, do my hair make sure most of my stuff is packed and what not so I will probably post again after the first day of orientation is over ... I hope I find some friends!

Doubt...ㅠㅠ

Hi guys!

So this post isn't going to be as happy as it could be, but don't worry, I'm still excited to study abroad in Korea :) There's only 3 days until PDO (pre-departure orientation) and I'm starting to get realllly nervous about this whole study abroad thing :S I'm trying hard to keep a positive mind set, but I can't help but think every once in a while that I might be making a mistake by going. I don't really know why, but I guess it's just my fears that I told you guys about last time starting to heighten as the program gets closer and closer. It also doesn't help that I haven't started packing yet and there's still all these little things that I need to get done before I go (procrastination at its best :p) ... And of those things, I still have to buy host family gifts xD But ya it's 1:13 am and I'm all over google trying to find packing tips and watching a whole bunch of the nsli-y alumni videos on YouTube (thanks!). So that's my current life right now... Feeling a little down and homesick and I haven't even left home yet lol but I know I'll come back a lot more independent!

End of rant, if you read all of that I salute you *hunger games sign* (if people even read my blog haha)

Host Family Info!

So today when I came home and checked my email, I was super excited to see that I finally got my host family information!! I have 6 people in my host family. A lot more than most people. I have a host dad who is 53, a host mom who is 54, a host sis who is 26,  two younger host brothers  who are 14 and 13, anndddd lastly a 할아버지 (grandpa) who is 89!!

I'm so excited to live with them, even though I'm a little nervous because there's so many people haha.   But it is kind of a benefit because I will get loads of Korean practice with lots of people to talk to ^^ not going to lie, I'm the most excited that I have a 할아버지 even though I have no clue why I'm so excited lol. My host brothers are pretty close to my age, but still a bit younger (I'm 16).

Most of the NSLI - Yers (nsliers?) have already google street viewed their address including me xD we're all trying to figure out where we all live so that some of us can travel together. I haven't found anyone near me yet though ㅜㅜ. My house is 47 minutes away from the school, so I'll definitely have to do some traveling while I'm there (remember cross your fingers that I don't get lost haha).

P.S. I have the US history regents tomorrow, but I thought spazzing over host family info and blogging this was way more important than studying ... right? maybe? hehe bye bye!

Random #2

So this is my second random post for today! Except now I'm walking home. Honestly the only reason that I'm blogging is because my headphones broke, so I can't listen to music while I walk home.

But I guess one of my goals for today will be to start making a packing list. Seriously I barely have stuff for this trip and we leave in 22 days... ugh the struggle is real !
